As Councils start to look for ways to save money will they consider using the cloud to source compute cycles? The idea and concept isn’t a new one, nearly 50 years ago research organisations were predicting this as an option open to both the private and public sectors. J2 Interactive is currently using Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud ( EC2 ) resources as a way of dynamically provisioning large scale infrastructures, for testing and performance verification.
